2015 marks the 41st season of the Grand National Cross-Country
series, and defending champion FMF
KTM’s factory rider Kailub Russell
picked up right where he left off last
year—dominating the premier XC-1
class. By the end of lap one, Russell
had a commanding 30-second lead
that would only increase as the race
went on. There was plenty of action
behind Russell, though. Rockstar
Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing
rider Josh Strang battled early with
Husqvarna-mounted Thad Duvall, Ryan
Sipes and JCR Honda pilot Chris Bach.
Sipes would collide with a tree around
the halfway point, knocking him out
of contention for the podium, but he
did remount to finish the race in sixth
place. Strang gapped the riders behind
him to finish a strong second place.
Russell had only Jordan Ashburn to deal with after the start. Canadian motocross star Tyler Medaglia raced his Husqvarna
to a top-five finish. Not bad for a motohead.
