OFF THE GROUND
The interest for opening a bike shop
was the result of many things, but was
emboldened by the couples time spent
growing up in a suburb of the bucolic
city and Mike’s history of tinkering with
electric bikes for his own use. “Our two
sons are also part owners in the shop,
and as a family we totally took a gamble
doing this,” recalls Heidi. “We moved
back here just to do this, and when
we had a soft opening of the store, the
response was so great that we knew
it was a good idea. In fact, we kind of
freaked out at ;rst because we realized
we didn’t have enough merchandise.
We were really thankful that Kalkhoff
gave us terms, because that was like a
red carpet that allowed us to grow and
I think helped us get other brands to
jump in quickly.”
Mike and Heidi Miller are the
proud and satis;ed proprietors
of Boise Electric Bikes.
The shop is tastefully furnished
thanks in large part to the left-
overs from the antique store that
used to inhabit the space.
The clean shop area has every-
thing needed to diagnose and
repair ailing e-bikes.
Talk about a short commute! Located behind the shop is the
place that the Miller’s call home.
