with aftermarket pipes. We don’t
get MXA in my town in the Czech
Republic. But, I just got the

should ban KTM from racing the
Factory Editions. It is cheating for
them to race next year’s bike under
this year’s production rule. Nobody
else does it. Why should they be

SPANNING THE AGES
I’m a little confused about how
Vet racing works. I was read-
ing about the 2015 World Vet
Championship, and I looked up the
complete results to see if I knew
anyone in my class. I noticed that
many of the Over- 50 Experts were
also racing Intermediate classes.
How can that be legal?
Under World Vet and most rac-
ing organizations’ rules, a racer can
drop down one skill level for every
10 years in age difference. Thus, an
Over- 50 Expert is legal in the Over- 40
Intermediates (and even the Over-
30 Novices). The basis of the rule
is that an older rider would be at a
major disadvantage if he had to race
Over- 50 Expert, Over- 40 Expert and
Over- 30 Expert for the rest of his
now-shorter lifespan. Plus, 40-year-old
Intermediates should be ashamed of
being beaten by a 50-year-old.
SUSPENSION SYSTEM (BASS)
I’ve been waiting for years for
some trusted source of suspension
tech and setup info. Adding Bones
Bacon to your staff was a stroke of
genius. He makes things very under-
standable. I now use my high-speed
compression adjuster for the first
time since I started racing. Plus, as
a fisherman, I loved his “Fly-Fishing
Epiphany” article. Keep up the good

I absolutely loved the “2016 MXA
450 Shootout.” It was clear and concise and I agree with your results,
even though I own one of the losers.
However, why did you not include
TM motorcycles in your shootout?
You can’t include what you don’t
have. For some reason, our test TMs
don’t get to us until well after our
shootouts are done. For example,
we tested the 2016 TM 450FI-MX in
the March 2016 issue, but we com-
pleted the 2016 450 shootout for the
January 2016 issue. We can’t wait
two months. Plus, if we had waited
for the TM 450 in 2014 and 2015,
we’d still be waiting, because they
were never brought into the USA.
We want to include the TMs, but we
started testing the Yamahas, Hondas,
Kawasakis, Suzukis, KTMs and
Huskys in August of 2015. We didn’t
get the TM 450 until December. ❏
