Don’t expect a big team, but
KTM’s Pit Beirer told MX Large that
there will be a Husqvarna motocross
team in the 250 GPs next year—and
Beirer ought to know since he runs
KTM’s racing program. Beirer says
that the new Husky team will not be
expected to win the GPs, but they
expect to sign riders who will make
the top 10. Beirer also said that
Husky will be its own brand—not to
be confused with new owner KTM—
and that the bikes will probably still
be produced in the Varese, Italy,
factory as opposed to KTM’s factory

MEXICO NO MAS: GRAND PRIX OF MEXICO CANCELED
We are shocked. Well,
actually, we aren’t shocked,
but we will be shocked if this
is the last Grand Prix to be
canceled in 2013. Held
together by ticky-tacky tape
and built on the premise of
building the bank account of
the promoters, the foundation of the GPs is weak.
Mexico was a mistake the
first time, so how did it get
on the schedule for a second
time? And, why was it
canceled if it was considered
to be good enough to be on
the 2013 schedule after the
strike and bad press (well,
not bad press from the
bureau)? When did they know it was going to be canceled? Yesterday? Last
week? Four months ago? Russia got the same heave-ho this year, and could
Qatar really be happy with less spectators than at a Mexican wedding? Laurel
and Hardy have nothing on Srb and Luongo.
Here are a couple of clues: (1) The
photo was shot at the Livermore Trans-AMA. ( 2) The photographer was Jim
Gianatsis. ( 3) The guy on the left is
Jimmy Weinert. Can you name the other
four American motocross heroes?
