Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM
A 24-70mm is a staple zoom for many photographers and now Canon has updated its EF 24-70mm
lens. The updated version, the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM, offers a number of improvements including
the use of one Super UD (ultra dispersion) and two UD lens elements to reduce chromatic aberration at
wide angle and the addition of a zoom lock lever to prevent the lens from extending during transport. At
3. 5 x 4. 4 inches and 28. 4 ounces, the lens is also a little smaller and lighter than its predecessor. Units
were just starting to ship when we went to press.
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
With the latest version of Canon’s Optical Image Stabilizer, the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II
helps keep your shots sharp, giving you up to four stops of correction against image
shake across the entire focal range. The lens boasts one fluorite and five UD glass
elements to produce excellent image quality with enhanced contrast and resolution
while decreasing incidence of chromatic aberration. The lens also feels faster overall,
thanks in part to a new focusing algorithm that increases the AF speed. The minimum focusing distance on this lens has also dropped to 3. 9 feet, through the entire
zoom range, letting you get closer to your subject, while keeping the image sharp
and tightly cropped. And because this is an L-series lens from Canon, it’s dust- and
moisture-resistant and built tough to withstand a variety of shooting conditions.
